Types of Wallcovering
Seam Visibility depends on consistent color and pattern matching. Washability depends on wallcovering porosity. (A general rule of thumb when it comes to quality is the thicker the wallcovering the better.)
Price is not always a reliable indicator of quality, durability, or washability.
Consult your installer for determining the right paper for the right area.
DARK-COLORED WALLCOVERING
Dark Wallcovering is manufactured in such a way that makes seams more visible.
This is because the paper backing is white and few manufacturers take steps to compensate for this. You can tell by just looking at the side of the roll, if it's pure white, seams become more visible.
Priming the walls dark is highly recommended in the event a seam separates slightly.
Please be aware of the slight visibility of seams before committing to a dark wallcovering.
GRASSCLOTH
The nature of Grasscloth is a slight variation of shading.
Seams are noticeable due to their non-matching nature.
Washability is low.
SILK
Seams are slightly visible.
Low washability.
PAPER
Seams least visible.
Medium washability.
VINYL
Seams least visible
Washability is very high.
GLASS BEAD
Seams can be visible.
Low washability.
SUEDE
Seams are slightly visible.
Low washability.
